Are hair color and eye color linked?

I'm doing a science fair report for school(i have to) and I'm have trouble finding info. Can you leave any website links for sites you think might help me.

THX-

YunaAre hair color and eye color linked?
No they're not linked. The genes are completely separate and I don't think any studies have found there's linkage.

However (aren't there always howevers?) because of areas of racial prevalence, you can get certain genes that appear to be linked (blue eyes and blonde hair in Scandinavia, for example). In time, (a long time) due to the travel the modern society involves itself in, this will change as, say, more blue/blondes move out of Scandinavia, and brunettes move in. The same is true of other genes, though I can't think of any off the top of my head, they were a bit in-depth.

I get the feeling I didn't explain that incredibly well ...

Try looking through genetics journals and popular science journals (New Scientist, and Nature tend to pick up stuff like this that's of more 'mainstream' interest). Also, if you can find a copy of iGenetics by Russell in a library somewhere, you're bound to find stuff about gene linkage in there, and it's fairly easy to understand.

Good luck! Are hair color and eye color linked?
hi,

the two are completely seperate, and dependant on different alleles passed on from your parents, whether recessive or dominant

as i remember it, recessive eye colour is things like blue, green, gray, and dominant brown

recessive hair colours are blonde and red/ginger and dominant brown again

as i said, these are seperate though, a person can have recessive of one and dominant or the other, or both the same, and that is why there are different combinations of hair colour and eye colour.

as someone said about people from different countries generally having the same hair and eye colour as others there, this is because of the genetics being passed down through generations, and people in the past generally not moving around much.

hope i have helped, you will find alot if you do a google search or something...
Have you tried webMD?
yes
