there is a black, a ruby (dark red) or pink(light red) and odd eyed (they have two different colours). you can usually tell with babies if they are going to have black or other colour eyes before they even open.How ca you tell the eye color of a rat eye or are they just black?

You can only tell if a baby rat is going to have dark eyes or light eyes before the eyes are open. You can't tell at this age if they are going to be black, ruby, red or pink, eyes.





Black/Dark eyes is a type standard description. The eye color is actually dark brown. Report Abuse

Pink eyed is not red, it's pink, neon pink, and red is a seperate color.

mostly they are just black unless it's an albino then it'll have red eyes
Most rats are black or brown, but albino mice and other albino animals have red and are white.
The only three colors ive seen for rats are red and brown and almost black my rat has black pupils and dark brown eyes im not a fan of the red eyes
they are either dark brown, maroon(ruby), or red, or a combo of these. thats it.
Rats are considered dark-eyed (black-eyed), ruby-eyed, red-eyed, pink-eyed, or odd-eyed.





Dark-eyed looks black, but the black pupil, and dark brown iris can be seen with a quick flash of a flash-light in the eyes.

Pink-eyed rats are easy to spot. Their pink eyes glow like neon pink. These rats are Pink-eyed White (PEW) but often mistakenly called albinos. Unless you can genetically prove that the rat is albino, pet rats are called PEWs

Albino rats have red eyes, and most others have black. I HAVE seen a rat with blue rings around it's pupil. It was beautiful!
